The Tourist Board of the Osijek-Baranja County, together with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia and Sindikat biciklista, submitted the candidacy for hosting for the EuroVelo and Cycle Tourism 2018 Conference, on January 31st.
The conference is held biannually, and so far it has been held in Basel, Nantes and Vienna! Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County are an ideal candidate for holding such a conference because of the urban and natural beauty, geographic constitution and location and tourist offer, and holding such a conference will speed up the process of infrastructure and (cycle) tourist development of Osijek and the region.
A balanced development of tourism in Croatia, with a focus on the continental development and on the development of (cycle) tourism, is one of the main strategic goals of the Croatian Government and the Ministry of Tourism, for the period until 2021.
The results will be known in March 2018, and the European Cyclists’ Federation delegation and EuroVelo Management team will visit the shortlisted candidates in the following weeks.
