City without obstacles

With the financial support of the City of Zagreb, Cyclists’ Union launched the project “City without obstacles”, and one of the main goals of the project is to improve the participation of Zagreb citizens in improving the city’s traffic (and cycling) infrastructure. Also, the project will try to achieve better education of citizens in the field of urban, transport and communal infrastructure. Cyclists, people with disabilities or parents with stollers encounter numerous architectural barriers when moving around the city on a daily basis, but few of them report problems and seek their solution. Through this project, Cyclists’ Union will ensure that problems and proposals for improving traffic infrastructure received by cyclists, people with disabilities, pedestrians and other road users reach the bodies responsible for solving them.
On the website of the Cyclists’ Union, a form has been posted intended for reporting problems, proposals, requests, applications through which citizens will report what bothers them about traffic infrastructure: a hole in the bike path, a faded yellow line, too high a curb or something else. We will revise the applications and submit them to the designated city authority for further action, and publish all received answers, thus alerting the public to unresolved transport infrastructure problems, such as “dangerous points” to prevent possible harmful consequences for all road users. At the same time, Cyclists’ Union will influence the development of transport infrastructure by systematically monitoring the type of reported problems as well as received responses of the designated public bodies with its proposals to the city services.
